Reducing EMF Exposure
Baby & Toddler
According to American Academy of Pediatrics “children are disproportionally affected by environmental exposures including cellphone radiation.” That’s because children’s brains are more exposed than adults because their brain tissue is more absorbent, and their skulls are thinner. Unfortunately, technology safety standards set by the FCC only take into account the biology of full-grown adults. Since there are no safety standards in place for a child’s delicate and fragile nature, health experts are calling on parents to invoke the precautionary principal. The principal states that the introduction of a new product or process whose ultimate effects are disputed and unknown should be resisted.
6 Easy Tips for Babies & Toddlers
1. Don’t let babies or toddlers use wireless devices.
Wireless devices are not babysitters! The earlier a child gets introduced to technology means a greater potential for harmful effects from EMFs. Most alarmingly, there are no safety standards in place for wireless devices marketed specifically for babies and children. Just because it’s currently socially acceptable, doesn’t mean devices are safe! Keep in mind that tobacco companies where allowed to advertise to kids by using cartoons until 1998.
2. Keep devices at a distance.
Devices such as cellphones, laptops, tablets, and smart devices are never tested for safety standards to account for a baby’s or child’s vulnerable developing biology. Remember that EMFs drop off with distance, so situate your devices so your child isn’t lingering around them. Give at least 6 feet of separation from your child’s playing or sleeping area.
3. No wireless technology in nursery.
Good sleep without EMF pollution from technology is vital to a developing child. Try using a wired baby monitor if possible. If you have to use a wireless monitor, then make sure it is at least 6 feet away from the crib.
4. Devices that plug in or use batteries need to be placed as far from crib as possible.
Things that plug in to electrical sockets are sources of EMFs from dirty electricity. Even battery-operated devices are not good while the baby is sleeping.
5. Don’t buy smart toys!
Always remember! There are absolutely no safety standards in place regarding EMF exposure for a child’s vulnerable biology. Wireless technology is scientifically proven to be very risky to the development of tiny children. It’s very unfortunate that wireless devices are allowed to be sold without any scientific proof of their safety. Do not underestimate the ignorance of product manufacturers or the corruption of regulation authorities. Just opt out of these ridiculous devices all together.
6. Take steps to reduce sources of EMF throughout the home.
A “smart home” is not so smart when trying to minimize EMF exposure, because all wireless gadgets are sources of EMF pollution. Go “old school” and choose wired connections over wireless.
