Reducing EMF Exposure
Low EMF Home
Technology is everywhere these days, so eliminating sources of EMF at home is often the best way to reduce exposure levels. In order to optimize the safety and comfort of a home it is necessary to take as many precautions as possible to reduce EMF sources. The home is where your children spend most of the time, so minimizing EMF sources throughout the household is paramount to their early developmental stages. In addition, adults that use technology most of the day while at work need an EMF-free sanctuary at night to let the body recuperate while sleeping.
6 Easy Tips for the Home
1. Use wired connections for phones and internet.
Cordless house phones and base stations are sources of EMF, so get wired phones for your landlines. Also, use ethernet cables for your computers instead of WIFI connection.
2. Eliminate smart devices from the house.
“Smart” devices are all your wireless devices that connect through WIFI. That includes all of those “smart home” features for your home appliances and smart speakers that are probably spying on you. For smart TV’s, you can disconnect WIFI in the settings when you’re not streaming content.
3. Opt-out of smart meters.
Go analog for your home utility meters if possible. If not, then make sure they are not on the opposite side of a bedroom wall. There is a lot of misinformation spread by utility companies saying the smart meters only transmit your data only a few times a day for billing purposes. In reality, smart meters are constantly wirelessly communicating with each other in a network, downloading firmware, and other updates.
4. Eliminate wireless technology from the bedroom.
A good night sleep is one of your best ways to recuperate from EMF exposure from throughout the day. It’s best to keep those devices out of the bedroom during sleeping hours. If you use your phone as an alarm, then place it on airplane mode and the alarm will still work.
5. Turn off the WIFI router at night.
To make it easy, you can buy a timer switch for the electrical outlet where your WIFI router plugs in. Turning off the WIFI in your home at night eliminates those EMFs so you can get a more restorative sleep.
6.Get an EMF detection meter to test your bedrooms and living areas.
Hand-held EMF meters are great to make sure crucial areas in the home are at safe levels. There may be undesirable levels of EMFs coming from hidden sources such as dirty electricity from faulty electrical wiring, or outside sources such as cellphone antennas.
